Ctrl+W is the keyboard shortcut that closes a window. In ctrl+w(alk), Nathalie Kerschen closes the screen and steps outside: the exhibition presents her practice of walking as a method. It brings together photographs, critical maps, Riso prints and a video produced during a year of residencies in Rome and Paris.
Drawing on eco-feminist approaches to architecture and urban research, Kerschen’s artistic and academic work builds a subtle yet incisive reflection on cohabitation between human and other life forms, machine behaviour, safety and gender in urban public space.
At the centre of the exhibition is a plant and sound garden. As visitors walk through it, sensors trigger the sound of cicadas and the hum of high voltage lines. Created for the exhibition, the work addresses our technological present, marked by surveillance, resource scarcity and rising temperatures.

Nathalie Kerschen works at the intersection of art and architecture, bridging the gap between academic research and creative expression. A trained architect with a PhD in architectural theory from McGill University (Montreal, 2023), she investigates the relationship between nature, animality and so-called “new” technologies in architectural design, translating this research into artistic and curatorial projects that often use walking as method and medium. Her project “Urbs Animalis” (Academia Belgica Rome – Kultur | LX, 2023) and her curation of “Living Thresholds” (LUCA, 2025) explore lived cohabitation between human and non-human beings in urban environments. In residence at the Cité internationale des arts in Paris (2025 – 26), she performed “Walk(ing) Paris,” examining feminine and feminist experiences of urban space through situationist parcours and critical maps. Since 2026, she co-develops the platform TASTE (Transforming through Art, Science and Technology) at University of Luxembourg. Nathalie Kerschen lives and works in Luxembourg.
